You know those great stacking cardboard boxes in which fruits and vegetables are shipped? Well, the other day, as I was fretting about the best way to pack and transport 25 small paintings to the gallery, I was in Costco looking to buy those colorful Cuisinart knives that are on sale when, you guessed it, I practically fell over the stacks of those stacking boxes.
I left with 6 smallish strawberry boxes and 4 medium blueberry boxes, but the best ones were large cucumber boxes in the most beautiful shade of Aqua — the perfect color in which to transport the new series of 6×6, 5×7 and 4×4 BORA BORA paintings.
Jon Bjornson is hanging the show today. I am not bossing him around about how and where to hang in their lovely shop/gallery. I will be surprised on Friday night at the opening!
If I stop by between now and then, I will take a photo of the exterior of the gallery, so you know where you are going, but I will not spoil the surprise for you, either.
He’s hanging nine 12×12’s in a grid. I am a real fan of a 9-piece grid. I have heard that the first quilt pattern an Amish girl learns is the Nine Patch. I sense there is a mystical element to three three’s in three rows.
There will be one or two giant framed monotypes on the wall – somewhere – too.
